FAS Lane Racing is proud to announce that Southern Pride Trucking will serve as Primary Sponsor to the  team’s No. 32 entry in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for this weekend’s running of the Bojangles Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. Southern Pride Trucking, in business for over 40 years, continues their commitment to FAS Lane Racing team… [Continue Reading]

#32 Finishes 30th at the Track Too Tough To Tame

The #32 started in the back of the field in Saturday night’s Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway and began moving forward through the field.  The race began with a long green flag run, with the first caution not coming out until lap 173.  The long green flag run was difficult for the team as it didn’t allow for the opportunity to make significant changes to the car and subsequently went a few laps down in the early stages of the race.  In fact, there were only 14 cars on the lead lap when the caution came out.  Stoddard made changes to the car throughout the race and toward the end of the race had made the car much more competitive in regards to lap times.  Sorensen spun in the closing laps, but was able to keep the #32 off the wall and didn’t receive any damage.  The #32 finished 30th and remain 32nd in the point standings.

The #32 will not compete in the Sprint All-Star event this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  The next event will be the Coca Cola 600 on Sunday, May 27th.

Terry Labonte and C&J Energy #32 suffer first DNF for FAS Lane Racing

The #32 FAS Lane Racing team looked strong for much of the weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.  Labonte put the #32 solidly in the field, qualifying 28th for Sunday’s Aaron’s 499.  Labonte showed he could get to the front when he teamed up with his brother, Bobby, in the early stages of the race.  Labonte was assessed a speeding violation and went a lap down as a result.  At lap 142, Labonte was trying to slow for a spinning car on the inside but was unable to get slowed down quickly and tagged the car in front of him.  Labonte also suffered damage from the spinning car that came up the track and collected him.  The team had Labonte come into the pits to assess the damage and return to the track to determine if they could keep minimum speed.  It was determined that the #32 needed major repairs and was forced to the garage to make repairs.  Labonte and the #32 weren’t able to return to the action, but finished 29th.  The #32 is 32nd in points.

24th place finish at Phoenix International Raceway

The weekend got off to a great start where Mike Bliss was at the top of the speed charts for the first practice session on Friday.  He continued to show the #32 had strength with a solid second practice.  Things got a little hairy on Saturday during qualifying.  Bliss had a lap good enough to place him in the top 10, but the #32 broke loose coming off turn four and he spun.  Luckily, Bliss was able to keep the #32 off the wall and avoided damaging the Southern Pride Trucking/TMone Ford.  Bliss was forced to start in the rear of the field for Sunday’s race.

Sunday’s race was a race of patience and perseverance.  Bliss managed to do both of those throughout the 312 lap race.  It was difficult to get through traffic and eventually Bliss found himself down a lap.  The #32 made adjustments throughout the race.  It went from being loose to being too tight.  Track position was crucial.  It was frustrating to see the #32 run lap times that were as competitive as the 10th-20th positions.  In the end, Bliss brought the #32 home in 24th position and without any damage.  The #32 is 20th in the point standings heading to Las Vegas.

Ken Schrader will be behind the wheel of the #32 in Las Vegas with Federated Auto Parts as a sponsor.

#32 C&J Energy Team Have Solid Showing in Daytona 500

It was a bizarre start to the 2012 season with the Daytona 500 being postponed due to rain for the first time in the history of its running. Rain lingered in the area Sunday and continued to cause delays on Monday. When the race finally got underway at 7PM Monday, the excitement and anticipation of the “Super Bowl” of racing echoed through the speedway stands.

Many fans hung around to see the excitement and they were not disappointed. Only one lap was in the books when the caution flew for a huge wreck that involved Jimmie Johnson and Danica Patrick. Luckily, Terry Labonte navigated through the spinning cars and flying debris. Labonte had a very strong car that was able to draft well and move around the track without difficulty. Stoddard had planned to stay out of trouble early and just before halfway, make a bid for the bonus money being paid out for the leader at lap 100. Stoddard’s strategy seemed to be working well when Labonte found himself in the lead with 13 laps before the halfway point. Marcos Ambrose dashed those hopes when he spun Labonte and brought out the caution. Labonte made a tremendous save and avoided damage to the #32 C&J Energy Ford. Stoddard had hoped that the #32 could stay at the front of the pack with their track position, which would improve their chances of being caught up in the wrecks that were typical of the racing in the middle of the pack.

The race weekend got even more bizarre when the caution came out and Juan Montoya’s #41 broke a part in the suspension and spun into the NASCAR jet dryer, causing a huge fire that brought out the red flag. The red flag continued for over two hours. Once back racing, Labonte played it safe and avoided two more close calls. In the closing laps, another big wreck brought out the caution setting up a green-white-checker finish. Stoddard felt the cars would most likely tangle again, so they chose to play it safe. The opportunity to make a late race charge was thwarted when the cars stayed in line and the checkered flag flew, giving the win to Matt Kenseth. Labonte finished 18th and had a car that was in one piece.

The #32 heads west with Mike Bliss in at Phoenix this weekend.

Duel 125′s Finished – Set Eyes on Daytona 500

The #32 C&J Energy Ford, with US Chrome and C&J Energy, completed the 125′s without a scratch on it.  After watching the wild Bud Shootout Saturday night, Stoddard decided to play it safe with the #32.

“We have a pretty racy car for Sunday’s 500 and I didn’t want anything to happen to it,” said Stoddard.  The race was marred with two substantial wrecks where several cars were forced to their backup.  “I didn’t see any sense in tearing up a very good race car,” added Stoddard.

Stoddard and the #32 are looking forward to the Daytona 500 on Sunday.  They have an arsenal of support from their sponsors with Josh from C&J Energy, Bob and his sons from US Chrome and David from Southern Pride Trucking all in Daytona to cheer them on.
